Interactive Gestures Coming to Appliances

First it was public restrooms. Now your kitchen. This new side-by-side refrigerator by AEG-Electrolux conserves energy by going into sleep mode and but can be woken up with a wave, just like the paper towel dispenser at an airport bathroom. They call it “Wave Touch Control Technology.” I call it a short-range motion sensor.

When the fridge freezer is in sleep mode, the lights are turned off, giving it a clean look while conserving energy. Just wave at the screen to bring it back to life.
