WiFi Coming to a Device Near You

Research firm In-Stat predicts that shipments of consumer electronics with WiFi will reach 1 billion by 2012. One billion devices able to communicate wirelessly. Incredible. What happens when your electronic devices can all act as a swarm? Will you ever need to tinker with your stereo receiver again?

In-Stat also found that more than 294 million CE devices with Wi-Fi shipped in 2007, and by 2011, cellular/WiFi handsets will surpass mobile PCs as the largest category of Wi-Fi devices.
