Digital SLRs preserve what can be a huge investment in lenses for existing professional photographers.

There is innovation happening by new manufacturers or those with a small user base in traditional SLRs. The micro four thirds cameras are an example. Canon &amp; Nikon has a huge user base of existing SLRs, so the move to digital SLRs was a natural one.

I&#039;m surprised there hasn&#039;t been more innovation in the consumer space. The Sanyo Xacti is a good example of thinking differently about the space, as is the Flip video camera (though I think the Xacti is vastly superior and more innovative.)</description>
